Better Than I Was Yesterday
Over the last year I’ve made lots of changes. The biggest ones are being 100% sober and staying fit and active through running (the M-word). However, I’m constantly evolving. In order to be a work in progress, here are some of the things I would like to work on over the next year.
- See my family more frequently. Specifically my dad. Between running/working out and carpooling to work (can’t stop on the way home), I haven’t been visiting my dad regularly. I want to get back to that. And I miss my sisters and my aunts and uncles and cousins.
- Work smarter. I want to go to work every day excited about doing my job to the best of my ability, and leave feeling satisfied that I made the highest and best use of my time. Am I writing this post during work hours? No comment.
- Be a better friend. I just need to pick up the phone or hit the compose button, or whatever, to reach out so people don’t think I forgot about them. I have a few people in mind that I feel I’ve neglected. If one of them is you, I’m sorry. I love you.
- Organize my life. This just means I have too much clutter and I want Niecy Nash to come help me get rid of some crap. Half of it is Tom’s crap though. I began this process already by sorting through all my clothing and donating all my size 10, 12, 14, and 16 stuff. That was 7 garbage-bags full of clothes!
- Improved nutrition. I won’t say “diet” because that’s not what this will be, at all. I have already started to eat oatmeal every single morning, and apple and peanut butter for a mid-morning snack, a decent lunch, and some almonds in the afternoon. But I ruin it with a garbage dinner. I am going to try to cook dinner once a week or so. And eat vegetables!
- Inspire! I want to encourage others to be their best in some way. Whether it’s helping other people get fit, running with them, listening to them, encouraging them in whatever their passion is, mentoring someone, SOMETHING. I want to spread the joy I’ve found.
Wish me luck!
